In a press release, the Ministry of National Defense explains “the number of US warships sailing through Taiwan Strait in 2015”. (October 25th, 2018)
In response to media’s attention on “the number of US warships sailing through Taiwan Strait in 2015”, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) says today (25th) that, based on the information available, US warships have sailed through Taiwan Strait ten times during that year, and were all single vessel each time. This is in accordance with the information released by Premier Lai.
The MND stresses that the armed forces always follow protocols to watch closely on any foreign war vessel that passes through the waters surrounding the nation and are prepared with counter-measures. The MND also wishes to assure the public that the armed forces are capable of keeping the borders at sea secure as well as maintaining regional peace and stability.
